🔞 Hookup app · Pure review
Pure: straight to the point, pay to talk.
An anonymous hookup app where you post an ad, match and chat before it all disappears. How it works, what you pay for, and the best sites like Pure.

ViceHunt’s take: The most up-front hookup app around, with privacy features that actually work. The catch: you need a paid membership to get in and chat, and the crowd is smaller than on the big apps.

The full Pure review

What is Pure?
Pure is a hookup app run by Online Classifieds AG in Switzerland. It launched on iPhone in 2013 and now runs on Android and the web too, in 15 languages.
The idea is simple: say what you want, find someone who wants the same, and keep it light. Every orientation and relationship style is welcome, and couples can say so on their profile.
How Pure works
Instead of a classic profile, you post an ad: up to three photos and a few lines about what you’re after. You only see other people’s ads once yours is live. Like someone, and if they like you back, a chat opens.
Chats expire after 24 hours unless you both agree to switch off the timer. Photos can self-destruct after viewing, chat media can’t be saved, and Pure tells you if someone tries to take a screenshot. You can also verify your photo, ask a match for a live “true photo”, and choose to blur or block explicit pictures.
What’s free and what isn’t
Pure is free to download, but its App Store listing is clear that you have to subscribe to get inside and chat. Memberships run weekly, monthly or yearly, prices depend on your country and plan, and they renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
On top of that you can pay for extras: Incognito mode, virtual gifts, and King of the Hill, which pins a man’s ad to the top of the feed for an hour. Women can add Pure Queen, a premium tier with Incognito, like filters and a standout look.
Who Pure is for
Pure suits people who know what they want and don’t want to waste time. Ads are blunt, chats are short-lived and nobody expects a second date. That honesty is the whole appeal.
The downside is numbers. Pure’s crowd is smaller than the mainstream apps’, so outside big cities you may wait a while for a match. If you’d rather start free, Tinder has the crowd and Feeld has the open-minded one.
Is Pure safe?
Pure’s privacy tools are better than most, but they can’t do everything:
- Remember a second phone can still photograph your screen
- Ask for a true photo before you meet
- Keep chats in Pure rather than other messengers
- Meet somewhere public first and tell a friend

ViceHunt’s verdict
Pure does one thing well: it puts people who want the same no-strings fun in a chat, quickly and privately. Disappearing chats, screenshot alerts and photo checks make it one of the more careful hookup apps. You do pay to get in, though, and the crowd is thinner than on the big apps.
Want something free with more people? Try Tinder. Exploring as a couple or non-monogamous? Try Feeld or 3Fun.
Pure FAQ
Is Pure free?
It’s free to download, but you need a paid membership to get in and chat. Memberships are weekly, monthly or yearly and renew automatically until you cancel.
How do chats work on Pure?
When you match, a chat opens that expires after 24 hours. If you both want to keep talking, you can switch the timer off together.
Is Pure safe?
It’s one of the more privacy-minded apps, with anonymous ads, self-destructing photos, screenshot alerts, photo verification and scam-word warnings. Someone could still photograph their screen with another device, so share carefully.
Can Pure tell if I take a screenshot?
Yes. Photos, videos and chats can’t be copied or saved, and your chat partner gets a notification if you try to screenshot them.
What are the best Pure alternatives?
Feeld for open-minded and kink-friendly dating, Tinder for the biggest free pool, and 3Fun for couples and singles exploring together.
