How to choose
Three kinds of AI girlfriend sites
Girlfriend builders like OurDream AI, Candy.ai, DreamGF and Joi AI let you design her look and personality, then chat, with photos, voice and sometimes video. Roleplay sites like Janitor AI, SpicyChat and CrushOn.AI have thousands of characters made by other users, and the chat is the point.
Companion apps like Kindroid, Nomi, Replika and EVA AI focus on a long-term relationship with one or a few characters that remember you. Nectar AI sits in between, with detailed memory controls for roleplay.
What’s NSFW and what isn’t
Most of these sites allow adult chat once you confirm you’re 18 and switch it on. Kindroid and Nomi allow it too, but they’re companions first. EVA AI keeps things suggestive rather than explicit, and Replika turned off erotic roleplay in 2023, except for accounts made before February that year.
Store apps are often tamer than the websites, because Apple and Google set rules for them. If a site has both, the web version usually gives you more.
What it costs
Free tiers let you try the chat, but limit messages, memory or images. Subscriptions unlock more, and many sites sell tokens or credits on top for photos, voice and video, which is where the money goes.
Plans renew automatically, and refunds are rare: Candy.ai, for example, only refunds within 24 hours and if you’ve barely used your tokens. Pay monthly until you know you’ll stick with it.
Your chats aren’t private
Everything you type is stored on someone’s servers, and several of these sites say they may use chats to train their AI. Italy fined Replika’s maker €5 million in 2025 over how it handled data. Never share your real name, workplace, photos of real people or anything you wouldn’t want leaked.
Use a separate email address, and remember that AI companions are built to keep you chatting and paying. If one starts to replace real people or eat into your budget, take a break.
What we leave out
We don’t list sites with “teen” or school-age characters, sites that offer “undress” or face-swap tools on real people, or sites whose leaks exposed abusive content, like Muah.ai in 2024 and Secret Desires in 2025. Even on the sites we list, users publish their own characters, and a 2025 Graphika study found harmful bots slipping past moderation on several, so report anything that crosses the line.
