What is Nectar AI?
Nectar AI is an AI companion and roleplay site run by Nectar AI, LLC, with addresses in Delaware and London. It started in 2023, and in August 2024 it announced $3.9 million in seed funding, mostly from crypto investors, alongside plans to put AI companions on the blockchain.
It runs in your browser on desktop and mobile, with no iOS or Android app. You confirm you’re over 18 with a click, and adult content is controlled by an NSFW toggle.
How Nectar AI works
You create a companion or pick one from the community, then chat one to one, play through ready-made scenarios it calls Fantasies, or run group chats with several characters. You can choose between chat models and set up personas for yourself.
Memory is where Nectar stands out. Your companion can create memories automatically, you can add your own and mark up to 10 as high importance, and higher plans get a bigger context window, from 8K tokens on Premium to 64K on Ultimate. It also generates images and videos of your companion and does voice messages and voice calls. Memories don’t carry over into a brand new chat.
Free vs Premium, Pro and Ultimate
You can join for free and try it out, but Nectar doesn’t publish the free tier’s limits in its help docs. The paid plans are Premium, Pro and Ultimate: Pro and up let you create unlimited companions, and Ultimate adds long-term memory, video generation and voice chat.
On top of your plan, many actions cost credits: pricier chat models, paid memory options, extra voice messages and voice calls, higher-quality images and video. The app shows the credit price before you confirm, which helps, but it’s easy to keep topping up. Check the renewal terms at checkout, because the help docs don’t spell them out.
Is Nectar AI private and safe?
Nectar’s privacy policy says it doesn’t sell, trade or rent your personal information. But it doesn’t say whether your chats are used to train AI, how long data is kept or how to delete it, beyond emailing support. Users who switch on NSFW content simply affirm that they’re 18.
We didn’t find reports of breaches or regulator action against Nectar AI. Still, with this little detail in the policy, it’s safest to assume your chats are stored and to keep anything identifying out of them.
