What is Doublelist?

Doublelist is a classifieds-style personals site run by Interlaced Social, LLC, from a San Francisco address. It started in 2018, the year Craigslist shut its personals section, and works the same way: local ads, sorted by who’s looking for whom.

It’s mostly used in the US, with listings in Canada and a handful of other countries. The site says it has around 3 million US users and is open to straight, gay, bi and curious people, plus couples.

How Doublelist works

You sign up with an email address and a working phone number (internet-based numbers aren’t accepted), pick your city and post an ad in a category like women for men or couples for women. People reply by email or through the built-in messenger, depending on what the poster chose.

Posts are reviewed and can be flagged or removed. The rules ban sex work, selling anything, contact details in ads and anything involving minors, and Doublelist says it reports serious violations to the authorities.

Free vs paid plans

You can sign up, post and renew each post once for free. Paid plans add more renewals per post and other extras. In the app they’re sold as Starter and Ultimate, plus a one-off Lifetime option, and Super Messages help your reply stand out.

Doublelist’s help centre lists the annual plans at $45 and $90, and you can also pay monthly. Plans renew automatically, and the refund policy is blunt: no refunds for prepaid amounts or unused days.

Is Doublelist safe?

Doublelist’s own terms say it doesn’t run criminal background checks or verify who users are. Its Trustpilot reviews are mostly positive, but the recurring complaints are about people asking for money, gift cards or deposits before meeting.
