🔞 Kink personals site · ALT.com review

ALT.com: built for kink, old-school paywall.

ALT.com is a personals site for BDSM, fetish and kink, from the same family as Adult FriendFinder. How it works, what’s free, what you pay for, and the best sites like ALT.com.

ViceHunt’s take: One of the few big sites where kink is the whole point, not a footnote. The catch is familiar from its sister site: a thin free tier, light checks and complaints about fake profiles.

The full ALT.com review

What is ALT.com?

ALT.com is a personals site for BDSM, fetish and alternative lifestyles. It belongs to the FriendFinder family best known for Adult FriendFinder: it’s run by Magnolia Blossom Inc. from the same Mountain View, California address as Adult FriendFinder’s operator, and the two share the same platform.

It’s explicit and upfront. People say what they’re into and what role they like on their profiles, so you know where you stand before you say hello. You use it in a browser on your computer or phone; there’s no app in the App Store or Google Play.

How ALT.com works

Joining is free. You build a profile, say what you’re into and who you want to meet, then search members by location and interests. There are chat rooms, instant messages, email-style messages and a members’ magazine for advice and writing.

Checks are light. ALT.com’s own help pages say it only needs a valid email address to join and can’t do background checks. Its terms also cover AI chats and “virtual friend” features, which it describes as fictional simulations, so make sure you know when you’re talking to a real person.

Free vs paid membership

A free Standard membership lets you browse profiles, use chat and look around. ALT.com says its premium memberships offer “far more privileges”, and in practice the free tier runs out quickly, so expect to pay before you get far.

Prices depend on your country and plan length. Paid plans renew automatically until you turn auto-renewal off in your billing settings, and some extras are sold as points or tokens, so check what you’re buying before you click.

Is ALT.com safe?

The network behind it has a rough record. In 2015 hackers stole data on up to four million Adult FriendFinder users, and in 2016 a breach exposed more than 400 million accounts across FriendFinder Networks sites, many with weakly protected passwords. Reports named Adult FriendFinder, Cams.com and Penthouse rather than ALT.com.

User reviews also complain about fake or copied profiles and slow customer service. Its terms say your profile can be searchable on other sites in the same network, so use a separate email and username and keep identifying photos private.

Is ALT.com safe?

ALT.com does little checking of who’s who, so the basics matter more here:

  • Use a separate email and a username you don’t use elsewhere
  • Keep face photos private until you trust someone
  • Video-call before you meet anyone
  • Meet somewhere public first and tell a friend

ViceHunt’s verdict

ALT.com is one of the few established sites where kink is the main event, and the FriendFinder network behind it means it isn’t a ghost town. But you’ll pay to get much done, verification is thin and the network’s security record isn’t great.

Want a kink community first and dating second? Try FetLife. Want kink-friendly dating in a modern app? Try Feeld.
