🔞 Publisher store · Kagura Games review
Kagura Games: translated japanese rpgs, adult content intact.
Kagura Games translates Japanese indie adult games, mostly RPGs, into English and sells them on its own store and on Steam. How it works, how the patches work, and the best sites like Kagura Games.
ViceHunt’s take: A reliable source of well-translated Japanese RPGs and visual novels, sold DRM-free with regular sales. Its Steam versions often leave adult content out, so its own store and patches matter.

Kagura Games vs the alternatives
The full Kagura Games review
What is Kagura Games?
Kagura Games is a publisher that translates Japanese doujin and indie games into English and Chinese. It says it started out fan-translating games in 2010 and launched as a publisher in 2016.
Most of its catalogue is RPGs, with visual novels and simulation games too. Its store also sells games from partner labels such as Denpasoft and FAKKU.
How the store and patches work
You make an account, buy a game and download it from your library. The store sells DRM-free downloads, shows prices in euros and takes Visa, Mastercard and PayPal.
Many Kagura titles are on Steam too, but Steam versions often leave out adult content. Kagura’s own site has a large patches section with add-ons for its releases, and its store versions are the place to start if you want the full game.
What Kagura Games costs
There’s no free-to-play side; you pay once per game and keep it. Big seasonal sales and monthly coupon codes come round often, so full price is rarely necessary.
Some games have DLC sold separately, so check the listing to see what’s included.
Reputation and censorship
Kagura Games is a legitimate, established publisher. In 2018 it drew criticism for censoring a release and then promised fans uncensored versions on its own store.
Steam’s July 2025 crackdown on adult games, driven by payment processors, is a reminder that buying direct is the safer way to keep the full version. If you’d rather browse a bigger indie catalogue, try itch.io.
Is Kagura Games safe?
Kagura Games is safe to buy from, and a few habits keep it that way:
- Get patches only from Kagura’s own site
- Back up your DRM-free games
- Check what the Steam version leaves out
- Use a sale coupon before paying full price

ViceHunt’s verdict
Kagura Games is one of the better places to buy translated Japanese adult RPGs: clean English, DRM-free files and frequent sales. It’s pay-only and niche, but you know what you’re getting.
For a far bigger indie catalogue, try itch.io. For visual novels, try MangaGamer, or see Steam for adult games there.
Kagura Games FAQ
Is Kagura Games free?
No. You buy each game, but sales and coupon codes are frequent, and you keep DRM-free copies of what you buy.
Is Kagura Games safe?
Yes. It’s an established publisher that sells licensed translations, with checkout by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal.
Should I buy Kagura games on Steam or on its store?
Its own store if you want the adult version and DRM-free files. Steam versions often leave adult content out, and Kagura’s site has a patches section for them.
What kind of games does Kagura Games publish?
Mostly Japanese indie RPGs, many made in RPG Maker, plus visual novels and simulation games, almost all for Windows.
What are the best Kagura Games alternatives?
itch.io for a much bigger indie catalogue, MangaGamer for visual novels, and FAKKU for more licensed adult games.
