🔞 Clip host · RedGIFs review
RedGIFs: millions of short loops, mixed sources.
The free host behind most of the adult clips you see on Reddit, with its own swipe feed and creator profiles. How it works, where the clips come from, and the best sites like RedGIFs.
ViceHunt’s take: Unbeatable for sheer volume and variety, and free. But anyone can upload, so not every clip comes from the person in it, and UK visitors only get a safe-for-work version.

RedGIFs vs the alternatives
The full RedGIFs review
What is RedGIFs?
RedGIFs is a free host for short looping videos and images, almost all of it adult. Gfycat launched it in December 2019 as a separate home for adult uploads, and it has been run by VERGIL LLC since Snap bought Gfycat in 2020. Gfycat shut down in 2023; RedGIFs kept going.
It’s the default video host for adult communities on Reddit, which is how most people first meet it. But it’s also a site in its own right, with a feed, search and creator profiles.
How RedGIFs works
You can watch without an account. There’s a For You feed, a Trending page and search across clips, images, creators and niches, and clips play full screen on a phone.
Niches are topic pages you can follow, a bit like subreddits, and creators have profiles with links to their other pages. You need an account to upload, and creators can apply for a verified badge; you can filter creator search to verified accounts only.
What it costs
Watching, searching and following are free. Expect promotions on the free site, including live-cam links.
There’s no RedGIFs app in the App Store or Google Play, which don’t allow porn apps; the site works well in a mobile browser instead. Skip any “RedGIFs app” or downloader offered by a pop-up or download site, as they aren’t official.
Where the clips come from, and the red flags
Plenty of clips come from creators promoting their OnlyFans or other pages, which is why verified badges matter. But anyone with an account can upload, so some clips are posted by people who didn’t make them. RedGIFs has a DMCA page for takedown requests.
Access depends on where you live. On 25 July 2025, when the UK’s Online Safety Act age-check rules took effect, RedGIFs blocked its adult catalogue for UK visitors and now sends them to RedGIFs Lite, a safe-for-work version. It has also restricted access in several US states with age-verification laws.
Is RedGIFs safe?
RedGIFs is a mainstream host, but it still pays to be careful:
- Use an ad blocker for the promos
- Don’t install unofficial RedGIFs apps or downloaders
- Favour verified creators over anonymous reposts
- Report clips posted without the creator’s consent

ViceHunt’s verdict
RedGIFs is the biggest free pile of short adult clips on the web, and its feed and niches make it more than a Reddit backend. Just know that not every clip was posted by the person in it.

RedGIFs FAQ
Is RedGIFs free?
Yes. You can watch, search and follow niches for free, and you don’t need an account to watch.
Is RedGIFs safe?
The site itself is a long-running, mainstream host. The risks are promos, unofficial apps and reposted clips, so use an ad blocker and favour verified creators.
Why is RedGIFs blocked in the UK?
Since 25 July 2025, when the UK’s age-check rules took effect, RedGIFs has blocked its adult content for UK visitors rather than add age verification. UK visitors see RedGIFs Lite, a safe-for-work version.
Does RedGIFs have an app?
Not in the App Store or Google Play. Use the website in your phone’s browser, and avoid apps that claim to be RedGIFs.
What are the best RedGIFs alternatives?
Pornhub Shorties for clips from verified uploaders, FikFap for a fast swipe feed, and Scrolller for Reddit-style browsing.
